Regardez Moi and Jive Magic go Head-to-Head

There is definitely a tension here at Ryans and also an underlying excitement as the World Equestrian Games (WEG) looms up on the immediate horizon and perhaps more specifically the final selection trials for the Australian Dressage Team becomes imminent.

Jive Magic has been described on numerous occasions as the most powerful dressage horse in Australia. He does seem to be fantastically well received by the crowds and Rozzie is rapidly molding this power into harmony and her trademark technical execution. I think all of Australia is watching with fascination and wondering whether the final selection trials are going to be just a tad too early for Jive Magic or whether Rozzie will indeed prevail and then one of the current Grand Prix favorites is about to be relegated to reserve status. Definitely tension out there and the excitement that comes with the changing of the guard.

Regardez Moi is the more experienced stallion of the two and does have a magnificent interpretation of piaffe and passage. Having represented Australia at the World Cup Final in Las Vegas USA last year he does represent the more seasoned competitor. I think when things are going well I would have to be considered an adventurous rider and Regardez Moi does have the ability not only to go through a Grand Prix test without mistake but to do it with an artistic flair. Regardez Moi certainly is not modest.

Both these stallions are now full blown Grand Prix horses and will come together in the final trials for the WEG with no holds barred.

The first of these Head-to-Head battles will happen at the Boneo Park's Summer Dressage Championships held on the 6th and 7th March. Of course the 6th and 7th March is also the Auction of the Stars where youngstock from both stallions will be auctioned. The catalogue for this Auction can be viewed at www.auctionofthestars.com and there is also a little bit of video footage.  On Saturday 6th there will also be  a free masterclass presented by the two stallions so an exhausting weekend is about to come crashing down around us.

The second of these Head-to Head battles will be just two weeks later at Dressage With the Stars at Werribee Equestrian Centre again in Victoria. This is a very important competition as this is the second last competition in Australia where Australian horses can gain a WEG qualification score. All WEG horses need to have scored 64% or higher twice at Internationally accredited shows under an Internationally accredited judge. Jive Magic still needs one more score whilst Regardez Moi already has two scores with the only other Australian horse properly qualified being Victory Salute with Brett Parbery in the saddle.

The third Head-to-Head battle will occur on the 17th & 18th April in Canberra at the Equinex. This weekend will also be accompanied by a boutique auction of just two youngsters by these two stallions.

Both Rozzie and I are right now very hopeful that both Regardez Moi and Jive Magic will both make the Australian Dressage Team for the World Equestrian Games.  That would be quite something.

Cheers,

Heath
