Jasper R is by Jive Magic out of Richmeed Dancer, who in turn was by Duntroon. Duntroon was the sire of Heath's Olympic horse Greenoaks Dundee. Richmeed Dancer has since been sold but not only was she the mother of Jasper R but also the dam of Rumba R. Rumba R is a sensational Regardez Moi mare in the Ryans broodmare herd and has produced some very exciting progeny. Anyhow getting back to Jasper R, he started life behind the eight ball. As a 2yo he was kicked in the knee when playing with all the other youngsters growing up together in a big paddock. He was lame for some 4 months and x-rays showed that he had major fractures in several bones in the knee and would probably have to be put down. Very painful decision that one and Heath just kept putting off doing the actual deed as Jasper R continued to be very happy and healthy although lame. As a 3yo Jasper R had a great big bump on his off-fore knee but had managed to get himself sound. Consequently he was broken in gently and when everything held together he was tentatively put in to light work. Well the rest is history now. Jasper is now a 10yo and touch wood still sound. He is ridden everyday by Cornelia and has turned into a magnificent dressage horse. 2011 is a big year for Jasper R as he and Cornelia will do their first Prix St Georges / Inter I competitions in February. Already Jasper and Cornelia are schooling through all of the Grand Prix work and it is expected by the end of 2011 that this partnership will have started their Grand Prix competition career. Jasper R has blossomed into a beautiful looking horse and has a wonderful steady temperament. He will on occasion double up as a high class schoolmaster for an occasional lucky guest rider. Not bad for a horse with a broken knee that was so nearly put down!
