HEATH RYAN

Heath was born 2nd July 1958.

2008 Heath was a member of the Australian Dressage Team for the Beijing Olympic Games and Rozzie was named as the First Reserve rider for the same team. Heath has been 3-times Assistant Coach for the Australian Olympic Eventing team, 1996 at the Atlanta Olympics where Australia won Gold, 2000 at the Sydney Olympics where Australia again won Gold and then at the 2004 Athens Olympics...

ROZZIE RYAN

I was born in Colchester, England and began riding horses at the age of 3 at West Mersey with a wonderful teacher -  Miss Catchpole. My parents were not involved with horses initially but were very supportive and my mother particularly enjoyed the competition scene. I was lucky enough to always have great ponies and competed in everything I could get myself to -  Eventing being my first love...

Emma

EMMA ARMSTRONG

Emma hails from Cassilis, NSW where her parents own a family Sheep property running Merinos that have been bred by the Armstrong family for generations. Emma started riding at a very young age helping on the farm and mustering both sheep and cattle. She was an enthusiastic local Pony Club member from the age of 6yrs and in those early years was coached by Gordon Bishop. On completing school in 2001 and at Gordon's suggestion, she trialled with Heath and Rozzie for a working pupil position and so started a wonderful association...

GORDON BISHOP

Gordon is in actual fact an independant operator at Ryans however he has off and on been based with Heath and Rozzie for the past 30 years and is considered part of the team. Gordon has produced a number of horses to 3*** eventing level and has on numerous occasions been in final Olympic trials here in Australia in contention for Olympic selection...

Sappho

SAPPHO RANSAN-ELLIOTT

Sappho joined the Ryan team in 2006 as a young SA rider who had enjoyed Pony Club and done some work experience at local riding clubs and also with some well known identities including Megan Jones. Sappho has always had as her goal to make the Australian Olympic Team in the Eventing discipline. Sappho has come from a very different background, being fluent in the languages of French, Chinese (Mandarin) and of course English.round, being fluent in the languages of French, Chinese ( Mandarin) and of course English...

Bree

BREE TILLITZKI

Bree started her training with Rozzie Ryan at the age of 12yrs and has been pretty much with the Ryans ever since. Bree used to go to school at Lochinvar so whilst Heath & Rozzie were based at Lochinvar it was simple enough to turn up at Ryans each day after school. Bree was initially involved with mucking out and tacking up horses for both Rozzie and Heath. This quite quickly evolved to Bree taking a special interest in Regardez Moi...

 Hazel Shannon      

HAZEL SHANNON

Hazel started here at Ryans in January 2010.

Hazel hails from a little town called Mutchilba on the Atherton Tablelands in far north Queensland. Mutchilba rates a post office and a primary school, no pub. Hazel started riding at some amazing young age like three years old. Hazel's Dad is a serious camp drafter and is the president of the Cape York and District Australian Stock Horse Society. Hazel has a younger brother, Liam, who like his Dad is showing real talents in the Australian Stock Horse world. Hazel's mum, Melanie, migrated from England to Australia when she was 20 and this is the influence that sparked Hazel's interest to pursue an eventing career...

 Bronte      

BRONTE BUTTEL

Bronte comes from Canberra and at first glance I think we all thought she was an unlikely person to become part of Ryan's. Bronte started with us on 29.06.2012. Bronte’s mum, Wendy, had attended our Sydney Auction in June 2012 and without consulting with Bronte or any other persons put her finger up for Lot 29 which was a Rituel mare called KRP Independance. Bronte at the time was working for Byalee and Ann Maree Lourey and was in actual fact at the auction when this momentus parental maneuver was executed...

SHOSHONA NEWMAN

Shoshona Newman started at Ryan's on 19th February 2014.

Shoshona started life as a show rider and was produced by her mum Chloe. Shoshona describes her mum as the ultimate "Show Mum" who specialised in producing her two daughters for the rider classes. Shoshona is a naturally beautiful rider with a string of show performances already to her credit which include winning Grand National 12-15yo Rider twice and also winning at Royals such as Sydney and Brisbane...
